Kristian Blummenfelt is going for it ALL with UNBELIEVABLE race schedule

You have to love Kristian Blummenfelt – he’s the man who will take on any challenge. His likely race schedule for the next two months should leave us in absolutely no doubt of that.

The 29-year-old Olympic champion from Bergen may not have have been in the dominant form of 2021 and 2022 so far this year, but his cast-iron confidence remains unshaken. As proven by what he is about to take on.

We already told you last month that ‘Big Blu’ would be competing in three huge events in the space of just nine days – the Paris test event on August 18, the PTO Asian Open just TWO days later in Singapore, and the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Finland on August 27. Well, that is just the tip of this particular Scandinavian iceberg.

Now confirmed as one of the entrants for the PTO Tour US Open and the Super League Triathlon Championship Series, the race schedule Blummenfelt is set to attempt in the coming weeks is nothing short of incredible.

No challenge too big for ‘Big Blu’

Ignoring the fact that Blummenfelt is also racing over the super sprint format at WTCS Hamburg this weekend, we jump forward to the end of the month, where the Norwegian is set to start his summer run at WTCS Sunderland, which he is already on the start list for.

Next, he’ll fly across the Atlantic to Milwaukee to chase a maiden win on the PTO Tour, before crossing back over to race the Paris Test Event. From the French capital, Singapore and the PTO Tour Asian Open comes next before a return to Europe to defend his IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship title in Lahti.

Unfortunately, he will miss the London leg of the Super League Triathlon Championship Series, but will be back in France for the race in Toulouse. Then, Blummenfelt can take a nice breather, enjoy two weeks of training before racing the WTCS Grand Final in Pontevedra and SLT Malibu race on back-to-back weekends.

In total, if Blummenfelt competes in all the events he is slated to, he will race eight times, across six countries and three continents, in the span of 63 days. Last year, he only raced on nine occasions in an entire season spanning 266 days!

At this point, could Blummenfelt be tempted to add in the IRONMAN World Championship on September 10 in Nice? Having finished third last year in Kona, the Norwegian has pre-qualified and would be eligible to race on the French Riviera.
