Rising British star Daniel Dixon has shared that patience is key to his long term development in the sport, after the 21-year-old finished a strong ninth overall in the 2023 Super League Triathlon Championship Series.

Having finished 13th overall last year, Dixon made considerable progress in his series standings this season, with “steady improvement” year-on-year incredibly important to the Morpeth, Northumberland native.

Picking up fifth last month at the World U23 Championships in Pontevedra, Dixon has enjoyed a great second half of the season and said that he’s already looking forward to even bigger and better results in 2024.

Sharing his thoughts after the season finale in NEOM, Dixon revelled in the fact that he had managed to consistently battle it out for the Top 10 in the series this year, which helped make this season a much more “positive experience”.

“I’m pleased to finish up ninth in this year’s Super League Triathlon Championship Series! Neom once again was a very tough challenge with the conditions and top class field making it a real fight for positions.

“[I had] a more positive experience this year which saw me pushing for a Top 10 all day long and it was fun to battle it out for one final time this series. Although I feel tactically I left some things on the table, I ultimately gave my all and couldn’t do much more than that.”

Continuing his development from the junior scene up to the professional ranks, Dixon, who raced for Team England at a home Commonwealth Games last year, underlined that whilst he is steadily improving, racing against the top stars is always a challenge.

“Steady improvement seems to have been the name of the game for me this season, climbing that ladder gradually is exceptionally important to me and this series has proved to be another step up from last year.

“Everything feels like a big puzzle right now, I’m becoming more consistent which is important but beating the top guys is tough. It’s requiring a lot of patience but I’m pleased to see I’m going in the right direction.

“If there is one thing Super League teaches you is to race and hard! I’m very grateful for the opportunity to develop in such a league and ultimately become a better athlete through it too. Already looking forward to next season!”
